Reba Foster Poovey, 91, of Hickory, passed away, Friday, October 2, 2015 at her residence.
Born September 19, 1924 in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late William Jeremiah Foster and Bertha Chapman Foster.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carroll Wilburn Poovey, Sr.; three brothers: Howard Foster, William Foster, David Foster; and two sisters: Frances F. Phillips and Dorothy Hefner.
A member of Viewmont Baptist Church, Reba was retired from Olan Mills after 20 years of service.
She is survived by two daughters: Brenda Poovey Starnes and husband C. Lamar Starnes of Hickory, NC, Karen Poovey McDaniel and husband Rick of High Point, NC; son, Carroll W. Poovey, Jr. and wife Katrina of Christiansburg, VA; sister, Peggy Foster Beard of Newton, NC; grandchildren: Jeffrey Starnes and wife Lori of Walkerton, NC, Julie Starnes of Winston Salem, NC, Jonathan Starnes and wife Lori of Advance, NC, Ryan Poovey of St. Louis, IL, Joshua Poovey of Christiansburg, VA, Benjamin Poovey of Christiansburg, VA, Daniel Johnson and wife Kendra of Clinton, UT; and a great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Eggers of Hickory, NC.
The funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, October 5, 2015 at Viewmont Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Jay Robison officiating. Burial will follow at Catawba Memorial Park.
