He was a retired Veteran of 22 years in the Armed Forces. He proudly served in the Air Force and Army as a helicopter pilot with tours in Libya, Korea and Vietnam. His parents were Clarence and Marie Aldred of Galax.
Bill leaves his wife of 58 years, Diane Aldred, their 4 children, Randal Aldred, Melissa Patton, Stacey Aldred and Mari Linda Cottrell, 9 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and extended family members.
A graveside service and burial will be held Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in the Monta Vista Cemetery with Randal Aldred and Stacey Aldred officiating. Military rites will be conducted at the gravesite by the Grayson VFW Post 7726.
