Olive Pritchard, 97, of Grove, Oklahoma passed from this life on earth to eternal life in Heaven on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at her home.

She was born on May 2, 1918 in Iola, Kansas where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from Iola High School as Valedictorian. She attended Northeastern Oklahoma Junior College in Miami, Oklahoma and Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, Oklahoma where she graduated with honors as Salutatorian.

Olive married James Howard Pritchard of Grove, Oklahoma on September 27, 1942 at Trinity Baptist Church in Vinita, Oklahoma. They had four daughters.

Olive taught school in the Grove area for over 20 years, starting her teaching career in one room school houses and subsequently retiring from the Grove Elementary School in 1980. Olive was a member of the Oklahoma Retired Education Association.

Mrs. Pritchard was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Grove, where she served in various positions throughout the years, with her heart in missions, serving as leader in the Women’s Missionary Union and as Sunday School teacher.

Olive, also known as “Hank” to some, is survived by three daughters; Ila Gibson Pyron of Vian, Oklahoma, Melva London (and husband Roger) of Grove, and Charlene Pritchard of Grove. She has five grandson’s; Brent Gibson and Jeff Gibson of Deer Park, TX, Eric London (and wife Rebekah) of Stillwater, OK, Ty Woods and Colten Woods of Jay, OK, along with four great grandchildren; Sasha and Darby Gibson, Faith Woods and Tate London. Olive is survived by one sister, Ida Lee Moorehead of Lenexa, KS and several nieces and nephews.

Olive was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Pritchard and daughter Marlene Woods; parents, William Case Hankins and Cora Mae (Freeman) Hankins; and five siblings, Celia Johnson, Mary Hankins, Clara Hankins, Elizabeth Lyon and Nimrod Hankins.

Services will be held Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at First Baptist Church, Grove, OK with burial at the Southwest City, Missouri Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, October 6 2015 at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove, OK.
