Alice Irene (Ewing) Adams was born May 18, 1936 in Pondfork Missouri, the daughter of Arlie and Erma (Roberts) Ewing and departed this life on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015 in Ava, MO at the age of 79 years.

Irene was united in marriage to Neal Adams on March 31, 1956 in Ava and to this union two sons were born. She was a housewife but an important part of making a living as she fed and took care of the cattle and farm while Neal worked out on a job. She was a wonderful cook and mother and was active for many years in church. Irene was saved at an early age and had attended General Baptist Church’s her entire life. Before being placed in the nursing home almost five years ago, she was an active member of the Bradleyville General Baptist Church. She was a terrific grandma to her grandchildren and every one of them was special to her. She cherished every moment spent with them. She and Neal had 56 wonderful years together before his death in February of 2013.

She is survived by two sons, Randy and wife Joyce, McClurg, MO and Andy, and a step daughter, Joyce Welch and husband Jerry, all of rural Ava. Four grandchildren; Jessica Martin & husband, Sam, Jennifer Adams, Austin Adams and Kelsey Adams and two step grandchildren; Debbie Boeddeker and Melissa Lee, two step great granddaughters; Emily Petty and Bailey Lee, two sisters, Joan Pierce of Ava, Missouri and Wanda Allen and husband, Harold of Kansas City, numerous nieces and nephews and cousins and a host of family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Neal.

Services for Irene will be held in the Clinkingbeard Chapel, Ava, MO on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. with Reverends John Lee Comer and James Hathcock officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery near McClurg. Visitation is Wed., Sept. 30th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Bethel Cemetery.
