Geneva Whited Dunford, age 83 of Reynolds Ridge, Virginia, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2015. Born February 19, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Rufus and Mary Rachel Hess Whited. Geneva worked at Eastern Isle’s sewing factory for numerous years. She was a 1950 graduate from Richlands High School and had been a longtime member of Reynolds Ridge Community Church since 1945. She was a 10 year member of the Richlands Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #104. Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Dunford; one daughter, Judy Ann Dunford; one granddaughter; Tonya Denise Dunford; one sister, Edith Crawford; two son-in-laws, Jim Shaffer and Lonnie Cole and one daughter-in-law, Kathy Dunford.
Survivors include one daughter, Sandra (Sadie) Shaffer, Richlands, Virginia; two sons, Jerry Dunford and wife Chris, Richlands, Virginia and Lloyd Dunford of Reynolds Ridge, Virginia; one brother, Cecil Paul Whited & wife Loretta, Brooklyn, Ohio; two sisters, Shirley Rife, Spring Hill, Florida and Linda Strickland & husband Charlie of O’Brien, FL; ten grandchildren, Chris Dunford, Melissa Vicars, Melinda Barber, Curtis Dunford, Ethan Horne, Jordan Horne, Lonica Deskins, Shawn Cole, Nathenial Dunford, and Barry Strouth; Thirteen great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted 11 A.M. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 in the Singleton Funeral Service chapel at Cedar Bluff, Virginia with Pastor Lonnie Perkins and Pastor Paul Crawford officiating. Entombment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens Mausoleum at Claypool Hill, Virginia. Grandsons & Great Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 9 P.M. Monday with an Eastern Star Service at 7 P.M. at Singleton Funeral Service at Cedar Bluff, Virginia.
