Charlie, the oldest of five children, was born November 8, 1913, in Telfair County, Ga. She was the beloved wife of Wallace Sessions, and they resided at Fairhaven after living 27 years on Jekyll Island, Ga., and 30 years in Athens, Ga. Charlie spent many years raising her daughters and volunteering with numerous community organizations. She is known for her good cheer, sense of humor and positive outlook on life. She especially loved her family, friends, church, as well as playing Mahjongg and golf. She will be greatly missed by all.
Charlie is survived by her husband of 54 years, W. Wallace Sessions; daughter, Jo Anne Alford and son-in-law Bob Alford of Bainbridge, Ga., daughter, Kay Golan and son-in-law Patrick Golan of Atlanta, Ga., and three grandchildren, Pattie Alford and Jan Alford, both of St. Simons Island and Sean Golan of Atlanta. Also surviving are a brother, Frank Lowery and sister-in-law Clair Lowery of Athens; a sister, Doris Cowart of Helena; a sister, Kathryn Robinson of Dublin and a sister-in-law, Edith Mixon of Barnwell, S.C.; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Saturday in the Jekyll United Methodist Church with the Rev. Roger Mays officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Jekyll Island United Methodist Church.
