Opal Irene (Doebbeling) Mowry was born in Forest City, Missouri on May 6, 1915. She was one of seven children born to Fred Henry and Orpha Mae (Arnold) Doebbeling.

Irene graduated from Forest City High School in 1933. On April 14, 1940 she married Dan H. “Bud” Mowry in Maryville, Missouri. They lived in Tampa, Florida for many years, where Irene worked as an office manager for People’s Gas Company. Bud passed away in 1988.

Irene moved to St. Joseph in 1992, and lived there until 2014 when she moved to Oregon, Missouri. Irene passed away at the Oregon Care Center on September 12, 2015 at the age of 100.

She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Harry, Bob and Kenneth Doebbeling; and sisters, Freida Choate and Marguerite Mullens.

Survivors include her sister, Laura Tabacchi of North Canton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Anna Lou Doebbeling and Evelyn Doebbeling, both of Oregon; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: Wednesday, Sept. 16, 2015 at 10:30 am at the Forest City United Methodist Church. Family will greet friends one hour prior to services. Interment: Forest City Cemetery.
