WINSTON-SALEM - Renata Buonanno Parigini, 93, of Inverness Drive, WinstonSalem, died Friday June 29, 2007 at Britthaven of Davidson. She was born June 16, 1914 in Khartoum, Sudan, Africa a daughter of Giovanni Buonanno and Lidia Montanari. She was a retired Librarian with Johnson Public Library in Hackensack, NJ. She moved to Winston-Salem from New Jersey in 2006. During WWII while living in Italy she worked for the British as an interpreter and translator. She knew five languages. She taught Spanish in Venezuela for many years to American expatriates' children. She was a favorite teacher to many. In Anaco, Venezuela she helped raise money to build a Catholic Church there and worked tirelessly to raise money for food and medicine for the town's poor. She received special recognition form Pope John XXIII for her charitable work. She was preceded in death by her husband: Giuseppe Parigini and a son: Eni Parigini. She was also preceded in death by her siblings Aurelio, Ferdinand, and Gina.

Surviving are two daughters: Leda E. White and husband James of Winston-Salem and Laila Russoniello and husband Michael of Mountain Lakes, NJ; one brother: Italo Buonanno of Caracas, Venezuela; one sister: Clelia Schaeper of Kennesaw, GA; on grandson: Eric Russoniello of Mountain Lakes, NJ; two step grandchildren: James E. White, II of Chatham, NJ and Christine DelDuca of Chester, NJ; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7th, 2007 at St. Leo's Catholic Church in Winston-Salem.
