DeVaughn Eugene "Gene" Counts, 60, of Park Hills, MO, passed away September 8, 2015 at Jefferson Mercy Hospital in Crystal City, MO. He was born June 1, 1955, in Bonne Terre, MO, to the late DeVaughn Counts and Linda (Beard) Gibson.

Gene later served his country in the United States Army. Gene was known as an excellent fielder of ground balls, which earned him the nickname "Scoop."

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Lance Counts, one brother, Rick Counts; and step-mother, Sybil (Pritchett) Counts.

Gene is survived by the man who raised him; two brothers, two sisters, many nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge, MO on Monday, September 14, 2015 from 11:00 AM to service time at 1:00 PM. Rev. Larry Allison will be officiating.

Interment will follow at St. Francois Memorial Park in Bonne Terre, MO with full military honors.
