Margaret Johanna [Halverson] Schmidlin outlived all six of her siblings, her husband and her two children, Ursula and Casper (Cap).

But she tragically died in a fire at the nursing home in Eau Claire, WI, where she resided in her later years.

She grew up on her parents' farm in Pleasant Valley, WI, along with her two sisters and four brothers. The family attended Pleasant Valley Lutheran Church and in later years, Eleva Lutheran Church.

Before she married, she worked as a clerk in several stores in Eleva.

At some point she and her husband, Charlie, became foster parents to 3 beloved children who were siblings: Peter, Donna, and Judy Proctor.

I remember my Aunt Ev Evans would drive my Grandmother, Heleborg [Halverson] Moen and my twin sister, Karen [Sanford] Beenken and me out into the hilly countryside to attend quilting bees at Aunt Margaret's home. Lots of cheer and good fun!

Aunt Margaret was a loving, kind, hard-working and beloved member of our family.
