On July 1st 1902, he was married to Louise Serum (daughter of Mr.and Mrs. Ole Serum) . They made
their home in Eleva, and here their two children were born, Josephine and Obert. ( I cannot find a grave site for Josephine Thompson. Oberts is listed below. . )
On Oct. 1st 1907 his wife passed away. He worked as helper in a skimming station at Norden and Indepen-

He attended Dairy school at the Agricultural College of the University of Wisconsin. Completing his course there March 1st 1903. He then took a position as buttermaker in
Eleva Coop. Creamery where he remained for 30 years. In addition to this, he operated a farm in Albion Township, where he resided until his death.
He was one of Eleva’s “grand” old men, always pleasant, kind and friendly. If the world were made up of men like Halvor there would not be the chaos and strife there is in
the world today. Busy as he was he found time for public services and was a member of the Village Council for many years. He was a christian man and was a life long member of the Pleasant Valley church.

Day by day the number lessens,
Year by year they slip away
To the unknown land, far distant
In the realm of endless days.
Some have left us in the morning,
Some at noon time took their flight,
Some at evening’s twilight shadows,
Some in darkness of the night.
We shall miss them ever miss them,
Miss their hand clasps, words of cheer,
Miss their happy smiles of welcome
That we knew when they were here.
But we hold them in sweet memory,
And we know they are not dead,
To the heavenly land eternal
They’ve just slipped away ahead.
