Michael was the son of German immigrant Georg Michael Mamber/Mumper & Anna Margaretha -?-. He was named after his father, Georg "Michael" Mumper. He is the brother of Anna Christina Mumper


He married Anna Burkholder (1759-1815). Michael was the father of ten children: John, Andreas, Friederich, Abraham, Henry, Elizabetha, Michael, Catharina, David & Samuel Mumper.


His second wife was Margaretha SIDEL. No children are attributed to this union.
