Clara M. (Paben) Hofeling, 92, of Beatrice died in Lincoln on Thursday evening September 3, 2015. She was born July 6, 1923 to Frank and Lena Hinrichs Paben at their family farm near Filley and was baptized on July 22, 1923 and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church of rural Beatrice.

She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice where she had been a member of the Rebekah Circle. She was united in marriage to John Hofeling on February 24, 1946. She was a dedicated homemaker along with working at the Beatrice Daily Sun, J.M. McDonald and Rod's Hallmark in Beatrice throughout her life. She had many life-long friends and enjoyed card playing, needlework, gardening, dancing, baking, quilting with her sisters and most of all spending time with her large family, grandchildren and friends.

Survivors include three sons, Eugene Hofeling and wife Sharon (Willet) of Firth, Alan Hofeling of Breckenridge, CO and Scott Hofeling and wife LeAnn (Kearns) of Lincoln; two daughters, Joyce Boese and husband Gary of Liberty, MO and Carla Kisling and husband Doug of Sand Springs, OK; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Marvin Paben of Beatrice; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lena Hinrichs Paben; infant son, Robert; four brothers, George, Henry and Walter Paben and their spouses and Vernon Paben; six sisters, Christina Ideus, Catherine Jurgens, Anna Zimmerman Bond, Ella Schuster, Marie Folkerts and Margaret Ideus and their spouses.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday September 8, 2015 at St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice with Pastor Myron Meyer officiating.

Burial will be in the Evergreen Home Cemetery of Beatrice.

A family prayer service will be held at 10:15 A.M. on Tuesday in the chapel of the church. A memorial has been established to the St. John Lutheran Church of Beatrice. The family will meet and greet family and friends at the Fox Funeral Home from 6:30 to 8:00 P.M. on Monday September 7, 2015. The body will lie in state at the Fox Funeral Home from 12:00 noon Sunday until 9:00 P.M. Monday and then at the church one hour preceding the service.
