A retired painter and a resident of New Orleans for more than 25 years, he died Thursday, Jan. 28, 1999, at his home. He was 62 and a native of Liverpool. Visiting at Spiritual Sunlight Baptist Church, 2400 Independence St., New Orleans, 6 p.m. until religious services at 8 p.m. Sunday, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Rudolph B. Rousell. Dismissal at Venable Chapel AME Church, La. 43, Liverpool, the Rev. Ranches Hall, pastor, at noon Monday. Interment in church cemetery. Survived by his devotedwife,Beatrice Burton, New Orleans; six children, Brenda Burton, Metairie, Joyce Cox, Hammond, Johnnie Nicholas and Tajonica Newman
