Funeral services were held Monday, December 15 at 10 a.m. from the First United Methodist Church for Mrs. Evelyn Holmes, who died in Seton Hospital in Austin at 5 a.m. Saturday.
The Rev. Warren Hornung, pastor, officiated at the services with burial in the Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
Mrs. Holmes was born October 21, 1920, in Runge, the daughter of Christian Hermann and Leona Ann Voelkel Steiger, natives respectively of Germany and Lavaca county. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was employed as a secretary at Davis-Logan Insurance Agency. She was married on October 27, 1940, to Robert Charles Holmes, Sr. and her home was on 111 South Bright Street. Mr. Holmes preceded her in death on January 25, 1968.
