Ellen married John G. Halloway on January 31, 1903, in Wapello County, Iowa. She married Zella Pixley in 1925.

84-Year-Old Native Of County Is Dead

Mrs. Ellen Halloway Pixley, 84-year-old native of the county died at her home, 221 South Ward street, today at 7:25 a.m.

Mrs. Pixley had been seriously ill for several weeks. She was the daughter of Squire and Caroline Marts and was born February 13, 1857, in Wapello county. Practically all her life had been spent here.

She was a member of the Christian church. Mrs. Pixley was married to J.G. Halloway in 1902 [sic]. He died in 1917 [sic]. She was married to Z.F. Pixley in 1925. He died in 1932.

Surviving are a brother, Monroe Marts of Ottumwa; a sister, Mrs. Carrie Harsch of Long Beach, Calif., and seven nephews, Herman and Basil Marts of Portland, Ore., Alfred, Marion, Harvey Marts and Orval Harsch of Ottumwa, and Harold Marsch of Long Beach.

She was preceded in death by a son, Willard; six brothers, two of them infants.

The body is at the Johnson’s funeral chapel.

Services for Mrs. Ellen Halloway Pixley, who died at her home, 221 South Ward street, Saturday, will be held in Johnson’s funeral chapel Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., conducted by the Rev. E.L. Frost, pastor of the Davis Street Christian church. Burial will be in the Shaul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Orval Harsch, Marion Marts, Alfred Marts, Lester Marts, Maurice Huber and George Johnson.
