On Tuesday, October 27, 1908, C. O. Bushnell died at his home northeast of Manchester, at the age of 56 years, as a result of a cancerous growth. The funeral was held Thursday afternoon from the home, Rev. John Dawson, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal church at Earlville, conducting the service. Mr. Bushnell was a native of New York state, being born at Lee, January 10, 1852. With his parents, he came to Delaware county forty years ago. He married Miss Hattie Coleson in 1879, who died two years later, and was married to Julia Atchinson in 1885. He is survived by five children. Mr. Bushnell was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church and up to the time of his death, was superintendent of the Sunday School at Oneida. He was a farmer and was one of the pioneer residents of the county, a man whose ability and estimable qualities won for him the respect of his friends and associates.
