Martha Emma Nall Trammell was born in Buckhorn, Talladega County, Alabama. Her father was a Civil War Veteran and a Baptist Minister. She married James Robert Trammell on December 27, 1885 in Munford, Alabama at the age of seventeen and after completing her education at the 3 R's school taught by him. She was a homemaker and a faithful wife. She raised thirteen children, seven born in Alabama and six born in Texas. The family moved from Alabama to Texas in 1897. First to Collin County and then to Taylor County in 1906.

She passed this life at her home in the Iberis Community.
