This memorial plaque now stands at the former site of the Devenny home. The lot is at present a car park.

Grave of Samuel 'Sammy' DEVENNY (DEVENNEY), an innocent man, who died in hospital on 17th July 1969 as a result of injuries sustained after being beaten by RUC (Royal Ulster Constabulary) police officers in his home at William Street, Derry, N. Ireland in April 1969. He had spent three months in hospital. In December 1969 an inquest stated that he had "died of natural causes". A subsequent inquiry led by Scotland Yard detectives failed due to "a conspiracy of silence by RUC members".
