JOHN L. BIERER
John L. Bierer, an esteemed citizen of Greensburg, died at 1:50 this afternoon after a lingering illness, in his 80th year. Deceased for many years resided on a farm near Hannastown, removing to Greensburg 17 years ago. About 20 years ago he lost his sight through an operation for a cataract, since which time he has been in total darkness. He bore his affliction patiently, however and was never heard to murmur nor complain. Mr. Brierer's wife died 12 years ago and of the family of 12 children, eight are still living. They are: Mrs. Kate Allsworth, Kansas City; Mrs. Elizabeth Kull, Pittsburgh; J. Steck and Milton Bierer, Chicago; Mrs. Harriet Elrick, Saltsburg; Mrs. Celia Johnston, Turtle Creek; Daniel and Mrs. Jacob Turney, Greensburg. Two brothers and two sisters also survive him, of whom Samuel resided here and Squire Geo. E. at Pitcairn. Mr. Bierer was a member of Zion Lutheran church of this city, and lived the life of a true Christian.
