Joyce Lee Brubaker Jeffress Whitaker passed away on August 15, 2015, in Fresno, California, with her husband Howard "Bud" Whitaker by her side. She was born on July 27, 1943, in Pasadena, California to Ellwyn Brubaker and Jane Brigden. She grew up in California with her brother Bill and her sister Tracy. She had a lifelong love for the beaches there, although she lived for many years in Connecticut, Ohio, and Utah. Joyce had a firm testimony of Jesus Christ which she bore often. She loved the scriptures and was steadfast in her faith as a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Joyce loved to travel and discover new places. She visited all seven continents over the course of her life. She was a very talented and excellent homemaker and sewed many sets of doll clothes for her daughters and granddaughters. She also loved quilting and gardening. She loved bowling and played on bowling leagues for many years. Her determined optimism served her well throughout her life. Joyce is survived by her six children, Terry (MeLinda) Jeffress, Julene (Eric) Raynor, Janette (Alan) Layton, Amanda (Anton) Kleparek, Andrea (Stacy) Touchet, and Laura (Michael) Lister, her 19 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her husband's children, Chad (Tracey) Whitaker, Derek Whitaker, and his 7 grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 22, 2015, at 10 a.m., in the LDS church building at 785 North San Antonio Ave., Upland, California. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 9 a.m. Internment will follow at the Bellevue Cemetery. Flowers may be sent through Draper Mortuary, 811 N Mountain Ave., Ontario, CA 92762.
