Gregg Freking, a Le Mars native and lifelong resident, died Saturday July 12, 2008, at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars at the age of 93.

Gregory William Freking was born Dec. 11, 1914, on the family farm south of Le Mars, the son of Casper and Anna (Deters) Freking. He attended country school and graduated from St. Joseph's Catholic High School. Gregg then lived on the family farm most of his life with his sister Caroline. He and his brother Leo farmed the family farm for many years until retiring and moving into Le Mars.

Gregg was a lifelong member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church and was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Trinity Council 1466. He was also a longtime member of the Holy Thursday Card Club.

Survivors include a sister-in-law Therese Freking of Le Mars; two brothers-in-law: Leo Haverkamp of Council Bluffs, and Elmer Willenborg of Kansas City, Mo.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers: John, Joe, Ben and Leo Freking; and four sisters: Caroline Freking, Mary Haverkamp, Agnes Waldschmitt and Frances Bohnenkamp.

A Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. today (Monday) at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Le Mars with the Rev. Kevin Richter officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation at the Feuerstein Funeral Home was after 3 p.m. Sunday, there with a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Scriptural prayer service at 7 p.m. followed by a Knights of Columbus rosary.
