She was born Oct. 4, 1930, in Kalamazoo, MI, the daughter of Virgil and Gladys Stillwell Sanford. She was retired after many years from the pharmaceutical industry as an executive secretary before moving to Fairfield Glade with her husband, Bill.
She loved God and lived her Christian faith all her life. She attended Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church and participated in many church choirs through the years as she loved singing.
She was a gifted seamstress and made beautiful dresses for her daughters as they grew up. Dancing was another favorite pastime with her being a fantastic dancer. She also enjoyed the long walks taken with her girlfriends in Fairfield Glade. She was a kind and loving wife, mother and stepmother who loved her family greatly.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Chambers of Crossville; daughters, Brigitte Ely and her husband, Bill, and Ingrid Haddock and her husband, Clark; stepsons, Bill M. Chambers and Jeffrey Chambers; stepdaughter, Susan Chambers; grandsons, Hunter Ely, Sam Ely, Brandon Haddock, Drew Haddock and Jordan Haddock; step-grandsons, Seth Voorhees, Nathan Voorhees, Jonathan Chambers, David Chambers and Michael Chambers; brother, Virgil Sanford; and sister, Joyce Penny.
Memorial services will be held Friday, Dec. 12, at 2 p.m. at Fairfield Glade First Baptist Church. Dr. Leonard Markham will officiate.
