Only the very best are chosen and on Dec. 8, 2008, angels gently lifted Cotton Moss home.

He was born Otto Millard Moss on Nov. 10, 1925, at Woodville, Okla., to Frank and Rose (Zollinger) Moss.

On Aug. 24, 1946, he married Lorene Cantrell at Paris, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.

He was a resident of Valliant for the past 54 years and was affiliated with the Valliant Assembly of God Church. He was a World War II Naval Veteran and a retired farmer-rancher.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of the home; three daughters, Jean Cornish and husband Doug of Nashville, Ark., Faye House and husband Charles, and Jo Ann Terry and husband Walter of Valliant; one son, Gary Moss and wife Samantha of Valliant; 13 grandchildren, Carla Creasey, Crystal Russell, Keri Emery, Kelli Richard, Shelly Jenkins, Chris Strawn, Susan Poche, Cheryl Bobo, DeWayne Terry, LaDonna Muse, Cami Moss, Billy and Kasey Worthington; 20 great-grandchildren, Ashley, Nathan and Alison Creasey, Cailin Russell, Kyle Emery, Hannah and Connor Richard, Tyler, Rhiannan and Caleb Jenkins, Justin and Brett Snead, J.W. and Kassidy Muse, Shanna McCauley, Kyle Hatchel, Amanda Peay, Kayla and Amelia Terry and Cayson Moss; one sister, Louise Harwell, Valliant; one brother, Bill Moss; Amarillo, Texas; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Cotton was an honorable man who lived a simple life and was devoted to his family. He was the best husband, daddy, pa and Uncle Fudd. He enjoyed a spirited domino game, camping trips and Friday nights with the boys, and playing his mandolin and guitar.

Services will be Thursday, Dec. 11, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the First Assembly of God Church in Valliant with the Rev. Scott Stuart officiating.

Burial will follow in Valliant Cemetery under the direction of Miller & Miller Funeral Home of Valliant.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2008, at the funeral home.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers contributions be made to the McCurtain County Relay for Life.
