Dad worked as a Insurance Agent with State Farm for 40 years, retiring in 2000. He was a 50 year member of Summit City Lodge #170 F & AM where he served as a Past Master in 1969, and also a 50 year member of the Mizpah Shrine, Dad was also a member of the Scotish Rite, and the York Rite.
Dad was an avid fisherman in his younger years, and he developed a passion for golf which he shared with his father and his grandson Kris. He also loved attending Purdue football games.
The last week of Dad's life was very difficult for him. My sister Karen had an exceptionally close bond with Dad and had been a regular visitor to Dad during the years he spent at Woodview. During those last days, we saw her love as she would hold his hand, talk to him, retell family stories, and even sing to him. On his last evening with us, he would turn his eyes towards her voice, so we knew she was comforting him during those last hours.
After his funeral, his daughters and grandchildren released balloons from the church. As the balloons floated away, it came into a formation of a heart, our sign that Dad was finally at peace.
He married Donna Mae Pelley on June 26, 1954. One daughter from that marriage - Beth Ann. Marriage ended in divorce in 1956.
He married Lorraine Woodward on Dec 7, 1957. Three daughters from that marriage - Christina, Karen and Constance. Marriage ended in divorce in Jun 1982.
Dad was survived by four daughters: Beth Ann, Christina, Karen and Constance. He was also survived by 9 grandchildren: Elisha, Lauren, Kristopher, Kevin, Derrek, Katherine, Emily, Amy and Kammy, and 5 great-grandchildren: Aurora, Chaz, Danielle, Hannah and Ashley.
