Daughter of Matthew William Presley and Abigail Tifft, Sarah was the wife of William Sherman Colvin whom she married in Feb. 1834. To their union were born eight known children: William P., Levi Fayette, John C., Francis M., Mary Ann, Harriet A. "Hattie," Orin Hill and Henry M. Colvin.
The Colvins' son Francis, a Civil War soldier, died of disease 6 Apr 1864 at NYC less than four months after enlisting in Co. I, 14th NY Heavy Artillery.
