Henry Schiernolz, 90, Dies Tuesday; Services Saturday

Henry Schierholz, who celebrated his 90th birthday anniversary here on Nov. 8, died Tuesday afternoon about 2:00 at Wide View Rest Home, Paullina. Despite his 90 years, Mr. Schierholz remained active until recent weeks. On Nov. 27 he entered Ward Memorial Hospital at Primghar for care and treatment. Sunday he returned to Paullina and became a resident of Wide View Rest Home

Death was attributed to his advanced years. Mr. Schierholz had been a resident of this community most of his life

Funeral services are to be held at Gaudian Funeral Home Saturday afternoon at 2:00. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, here.

The deceased is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Arthur Stern, Paullina and Mrs. Mabel Mlagenovich of Whittier, Calif.; and two sisters, Mrs. Dora Otte of Sutherland and Mrs. Emil Wittrock of Hartley.

Henry W. Schierholz, son of Henry and Dorthea (Riebenstein) Schierholz, was born Nov. 8, 1874, in Benton County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith in his home town of Luzerne, Iowa. He came to O'Brien county at the age of 16.

In January 1900, he was married to Dorathea Rohwer and to this untion two children were born. In 1925, his life was saddened by the loss of his wife.

Henry spent his life at various jobs, including farming, truck driving, and car salesman.

In November of this year he celebrated his 90th brithday. About one month ago he was taken ill. He spent some time in the hospital at Primghar. On Tuesday, Dec. 22, he passed away at the Wide View Rest Home in Paullina. He attained the age of 90 years, one month and 14 days.

Survivors include his two daughters, Mrs. Arthur (LaVera) Stern of Paullina, and Mrs. Mabel Malagenovich of Whittier, Calif.; three grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and two sisters. Five brothers, four sisters, his wife and parents preceded him in death.

Funeral services wer held at Gaudian Funeral Home Saturday, Dec. 16. Burial was in Prairie View Cemetery.
