Mrs. Thiessen Buried Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Hans Thiessen were conducted Sunday afternoon from the Reiste Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Corwin Taylor of Sac City, Iowa. Music was furnished by Mrs. Phillip Jordan and Miss Bonnie Dahlbo, accompanied by Miss Edith Jensen The pallbearers were E. J. Lage V. N. Rausch, Arthur Davis, Gus Engel, Wm. Peters and August Henning.

Mrs. Thiessen passed away at her home east of Sutherland Friday
following a long illness.

'68 — Bertha Anna Schierholz — '38
Bertha Anna Schierholz, oldest daughter of Henry and Dorothea Schierholz, was born February 3, 1868, at Garnovillo, Clayton county, Iowa, and passed away at her home east of Sutherland May 27, 1938, at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 24 days For the past seven years she had been suffering with rheumatism and until the last week when she became ill with the flu which caused her death.

At the age of 18 months she came with her parents by wagon to Benton, county. In the year 1889, on November 6th, she was married to Hans C. Thiessen and moved on a farm east of Sutherland in January, 1890, and lived in this vicinity with the exception of 14 years spent in town. In the spring of 1933 they moved back to the farm. Mr. Thiessen died June 19, 1934.

To this union were born seven children, two dying in infancy Those who remain to mourn her death are four daughters and one son, Ella Hoeppner, Alma Petersen John Thiessen, Nora Koch and Lena Gillespie. She also leaves 12 grandchildren, 2 sisters and 5 brothers.

She was a kind and loving wife and mother and was well liked by her neighbors and friends.
