Local tradition has it that Simeon received a contract to build Hanover's first two mills in 1869--both on Mink Brook. The gristmill stood just north of present-day Etna, while the sawmill was about a half-mile south. In 1807 a small farmhouse on Hanover's North Main Street was passed on to Simeon. It is current known as the Daniel Webster Cottage.
The house in question is on page 83 of the Jay Barrett book.
