John Andrew Albin was the 9th child of John Andrew and Bettie Allison Albin. He was born "near" Winchester, VA and the family eventually moved to Kabletown, Charles Town, Jefferson Co, West Virginia. John went to Washington, D.C. in 1894 where he became a fireman. He fell in love with a lovely Irish girl, Catherine Veronica Tyrrell. They married in 1898.

In 1905, John suffered what the doctors thought was a heart attack and was "retired" from the fire service. He moved his family to Osceola, NE, where his brother in law had settled. John was a wonderful carpenter and served as school custodian in Osceola schools for many years. He was loved by all the children.
