He was a farmer and a life member of the VFW and American Legion.
On January 2, 1951 he married Alberta Simmons in Garden City. She preceded him in death on February 10, 2002.
Survivors include: 5 sons, Steve Rupp and wife Sharon, Garden City, Mike Rupp and wife Shelly, Garden City, David Rupp and wife Marsha, Garden City, Chris Rupp and wife Daneen, Sioux City, Iowa and Pat Rupp and wife Joan, Dodge City, Kansas; 2 daughters, Jeanne Rupp and husband Robert, Hays, Kansas and Laurenda Jewett, Dodge City; 2 sisters, Elvira Billinger, Scott City, Kansas and Rita Riebel, Minneola, Kansas; and14 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and 4 brothers and 4 sisters.
Vigil Service will be at 6:30 pm Wednesday, March 11, 2015 at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Thursday March 12, 2015 at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe with Fr. Terrance Klein presiding. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 6:30 pm Wednesday at Ziegler Funeral Chapel, Dodge City. Burial will be in Kansas Veterans Cemetery, Ft. Dodge, Kansas with military honors by Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 and Military Honors for the State of Kansas.
The family suggests memorials to Howard Gotschall VFW Post 1714 or the Cathedral of Our Lady of Guadalupe both in care of Ziegler Funeral Chapel, 1901 N. 14th Ave., Dodge City, Kansas 67801.
