Vada Lee McKinney Gaddy passed from this life to her heavenly home on Monday, August 3, 2015, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 7, 1922 in Avery County, NC to the late Chester McKinney and Molly Hobson McKinney.
She was a strong Christian whose love for Jesus Christ was the foundation for her life. Vada was the loving mother of seven children. Primarily a homemaker, she also worked for forty six years at the Harvest Drive In Restaurant. She was an avid reader, especially of God's Word, and also loved to garden and spend time with her large family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Gaddy; one son, Jerry Gaddy; granddaughters, Angela Jane Clark, Buffy Annette Gouge and Mollie Erin Dalton; five brothers, Ford, Wade, Rush, Rube, and D.C. McKinney and two sisters, Dora Smith and Josephine Greene.
Vada is survived by her sons, Bobby Gaddy (Sue), Mack Gaddy (Elaine) and Danny Gaddy (Robyn); her daughters, Judi Dalton, Joy Keaton (Ralph) and Kay Gouge (Roger); and her sister, Patsy Padgett. She is lovingly known as Granny to fourteen grandchildren, Lynn Gaddy, Nick Gaddy, Michael Gaddy, K.M. Gaddy, Krissy Hoyle, Candace Dalton, Jordan Dalton, Rodney Gouge, Jody Gouge, Keisa Willimon, Alisa Hawkins, Daniel Gaddy, Kiersten Koone and Natalie Contas; twenty-nine great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, August 6, 2015 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Hospice Chaplain Richard Anderson and Preacher Jody Gouge officiating. Burial followed at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Mitchell County.
Vada's grandsons served as pallbearers and her nephews served as honorary pallbearers.
