Travis Fodge, brother of Mrs. Russell Swarts, died December 26 in Sacramento, CA, following a lengthy illness.
Mr. and Mrs. Swarts flew to California via jet to attend the military funeral services December 28 in Sacramento. Burial was in Redding.
Travis was born May 31, 1914, to Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Fodge at Fort Towson, OK. He lived with his parents in the Carnegie community for several years before moving to Arizona and California in the 1930's.
He was a crane operator in heavy construction work for many years, working at Boulder Dan, Boulder City, Nev., Parker Dam at Parker City, Ariz., and at Shasta Dam, Redding, Calif. he was a civilian instructor for the military in operating heavy equipment at Camp Roberts, Calif.m and the past several years was associated with a Construction company in Sacramento.
A veteran of three years in World War II in the South Pacific, he was wounded on Sipan.
He is survived by his wife of the home; one son, M-Sgt. Bill Fodge of the U.S. Air Force at San Antonio; three grandchildren of Albany, Oregon, and Tom Fodge of Redding; three sisters, Mrs. Theda Diestelhorst of Gardena, CA, Mrs. Monty McCarty of Bakersfield, CA, and Mrs. Swarts, Carnegie, and other relatives.
