Agnes Eve (Childress) Best was welcomed into glory on July 27th, 2015. She was surrounded by her family in Plano, TX at the time. Agnes was born in Kennard, Texas on December 9th, 1916. She married the love of her life, Connie Best, and they settled in Houston, Texas. She was a faithful servant of the Lord and enjoyed teaching Sunday school to the children of the Baptist Temple Church in the Heights for over 50 years. Upon visiting Baptist Temple today you will find many adults who were taught the ways of Jesus by Agnes when they were once first graders. She loved to paint and crafted many pieces on canvas which reflected her love of nature and flowers. Agnes and Connie took great pride in their backyard garden and loved working together to grow crops which provided many home cooked meals for family and friends. Most of all, Agnes enjoyed spending time with her family and exemplified strength, generosity and love to them. Agnes is survived by her two daughters: Becky Sullivan of Allen, TX; Betty Bailey and husband Bill of Beckville, TX; her three grandsons: John Sullivan of Nashville, TN; Jeff Sullivan and wife Carla of Richardson, TX; James DeLorean of Los Angeles, CA; and her granddaughter: Brenda Meskini and husband Mohamed of Euless, TX. A service will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery at 2pm on Saturday, August 1, 2015 with reception to follow.
The family would like to give a special note of thanks to Ray Torgerson, JoAnn and Richard O'Donnell, Cheryl Coleman and the kind staff at The Legacy at Willow Bend for the love and care they showed for Agnes in the final months and years of her earthly life.
