Miranda Ellen Shubert was born in Johnson Co., IA March 20, 1860 and died at her home in Dayton twp, Iowa Co., IA, June 27, 1914, age 54 years, 3 months, and 7 days. The later part of March she suffered a paralytic stroke and the second and third strokes followed, the last one resulting in her death. She united with the United Brethern Church at the age of 15 and has led a faithful Christian life through all these years. She was united in marriage with Jacob W Humphrey on Oct 31, 1880. To this union were born eight children; John of North English, Perry of High River, Alberta of Canada, Stephen at home, Mrs Merle Wilhite of Keswick, Mae and Walter at home and Minnie and Frederic who died in infancy. All the children except Perry with her during her last hours. The family moved to Keswick about the year of 1888 where she united with the Methodist Church. Six years ago they moved to their present home and united at Hope Chapel. Her husband preceded her to the better world Feb 9, 1912. She was a tender loving mother, a kind and faithful neighbor, and always a friend to those in need of a friend. She will be missed, not only in the home, but also in the community and church.
