Mrs. Mildred Boston, Retired School Teacher, Succumbed
Mrs. Mildred Snell Boston, a well known resident of West Pittston, and one of the boroughs most beloved retired teachers, past away last evening at 11 in Robinson Convalescent Home, 870 Exeter avenue, where she had been a guest. She had been in declining health, and her condition was regarded as serious for the past few days.
Born in Orange, she was the daughter of the late Samuel B. and Fannie L. Snell, prominent residents of Orange. She was the youngest and last surviving member of a family of ten children. Her father was a Civil War veteran, wounded at Gettysberg in 1863.
Mrs. Boston was a graduate Bloomsburg State Teachers College, and taught in the West Pittston Public Schools for 30 years, prior to her retirement 5 years ago. She was a member of the Orange Methodist Church and attended West Pittston Methodist Church. She was also a member of the Daughters of American Revolution. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. J. Richard Eshelman of Elm street; two sons: Clarence S. of Westerville, Ohio; and Donald of Colonia , N.J., seven grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held from the Harold E. Howell Funeral Home, 500 Wyoming avenue, at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
Rev. Harry S. Henck, pastor of First Methodist Church will officiate, and interment will be in Eaton Cemetery, Orange. Friends may call tomorrow afternoon from 2 to 4 and tomorrow evening from 7 to 9; and Monday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.
