William Roy Ash, a resident of Dothan, died Monday night, May 16, 2005 at Northwest Florida Rehabilitation Center in Graceville, Florida. He was 83.

Graveside services with full military honors will be held 3 p.m. today at Sunset Memorial Park with the Rev. Freddie L. McCain officiating.

Mr. Ash was born Jan. 3, 1922 in Ben Run, WV, and lived the early years of his life there. He enlisted in the US Army and later transferred to the US Air Force where he served for 30 years prior to his retirement at McDill Air Force Base in Tampa, FL. Mr. Ash was employed as a nuclear inspector for over 12 years prior to his retirement in 1994.

Mr. Ash is predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Ash.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel Ash of Dothan; three sons and daughters-in-law, Nicholas and Stephanie Ash of Birmingham, William Charles and Deborah Ash of Cowarts, Richard Warren and Lynn Ash of Dothan; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and James Wade of Dothan; seven grandchildren, Christopher Ash, Shane Ash and his wife, Shann, Paul, Alex and Kyle Ash, David Wade and his wife Grace and Jamie Wade; step-grandchildren, Heath and Amber Hughes, Kendra, Savannah and Connier; one great-grandchild, Austin Wade; a brother and sister-in-law, Leon Carroll and Minnia Ash, Charleston, WV.
