Marriage: 20 Sept 1866, Victoria Mission, Northwest Territories (Alberta), Canada. Performed by Rev. George McDougall, brides father.

Appointment: 1872, Fort Edmonton, Upper Saskatchewan District (Alberta) - Hudson Bay Company; Chief Factor.

1883, Fort Calgary, Upper Saskatchewan District (Alberta), Canada.

Appointment: 23 Feb 1888, Senate of the Dominion of Canada; the first senator from the District of Alberta on the advice of John A. MacDonald.

Upon his demise, James Alexander Lougheed (nephew by marriage) was appointed as his replacement to the senate of the Dominion of Canada from NWT, Alberta District on 12 Dec 1889.


Note: The Town of Hardisty in Alberta, Canada was named after Senator Richard Hardisty. It began in 1906 as a hamlet, and officially became a town in 1911.
