Mrs. Lula France, 85 years old of Mountainburg, Arkansas died Saturday morning March 19, 1960 in a local hospital. her illness was of short duration. She was the widow of Andy France who died in October, 1962 and was buried on the morning of the 16th in Vaught cemetery when the weather was a beautiful fall day.
Mrs. France was born December 23, 1874 at the present site of Lake Shepherd Springs, Arkansas (Crawford county). Her parents were Allen Vaught and Queen Conley Vaught also natives of the area of Crawford county. Her grandparents settled here in the 1830's.
She was married to Mr. France on September 2, 1893 and they became the parents of eight children, five sons, three daughters. She is also survived by a sister, Vadie; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
On Monday, a beautiful spring day, at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, relatives and friends gathered in Vaught cemetery for the memorial service and burial.
The arrangements were under the direction of Ocker Funeral Home.
