Frederick "Fred" Dennis was born on May 4, 1880 in Tennessee, the son of John Huston Dennis (ca 1839–1899) and Ellen Angeline (Hendricks) Dennis (1844–1904). [NOTE: Although his Death Certificate informant gave Fred's year of birth as 1879, it is 1880 on both his World War Draft Registration Card and on his Delayed Birth Record.]

He was married on July 11, 1907 in Davidson County to Blanche Bailey (1884–1963), and she was the daughter of Edward George "Ed" Bailey (1857–1902) and his 1st wife Catherine E (Fitzgerald) Bailey (1865–1892).

A turntable operator for the L&N Railroad and living at 307 East Thompson Lane, Nashville, he was in his mid-70s when he died on February 22, 1956 at Nashville's Vanderbilt Hospital where he had been for 14 days. Burial was two days later in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Nashville.

Most of the above is from his Death Certificate, with Mrs Blanche Dennis of 307 East Thompson Lane as the informant.
