She was married 1st on February 17, 1892 as the 2nd wife of Edward George Bailey (1857-1902), who was the son of George Bailey (1835-1921) and Josephine Maria (Bescacon) Bailey (1835-1880). Edward had been married 1st to Catherine E Fitzgerald (1865–1892), and they had a daughter.
Mattie was married 2nd on December 29, 1910 in Davidson County as the 2nd wife of Robert Paschal A Gibbs (1866-1944), the son of William Alford "Will" Gibbs (1813–1891) and Elvira (McMurray) Gibbs (1833–1906). Robert had been married 1st in 1896 to Louella "Lula" Yeaman (1877–1909), and they had at least 5 children.
