Claremont, May 30 - Tobias Larson, 63 years of age, Editor of "The Claremont Courier" since 1923, a former President of the California Newspaper Publisher's Association and widely known in the Southland newspaper circles, died tonite at his home here (May 30th).

Four years ago, Larson's paper won a place on Professor Casey's All-American Newspaper Eleven for General Excellence of his publication and was the only newspaper west of the Rockies to obtain recognition.

In 1934, he was awarded "The Times Cup" for the best front page of a weekly newspaper. He was elected head of the State Publishers in 1928. He was a member of the Claremont Community Church, and a Director of the Chamber of Commerce.

Larson was born in Mydland, Norway, and came to the United States when he was 9. He was a graduate of Highland College at Highland, KS, where, for 20 years, he was Publisher of the "Highland Vidette".

He leaves a widow Elsie, a son, Stanley, who was associated with him in the publishing of the paper; a daughter, Lavinia of New York and two brothers and a sister.
