She was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and moved to Port Arthur, Texas at an early age. Deanna married her high school sweetheart, P.J. Hebert, and moved to Crystal City, a South Texas rural community shortly after they were married. Deanna and P.J. moved to La Pryor in the early '70s and raised four beautiful children:
In the early '80s she moved back to Port Arthur to be closer to her mother and siblings. This is when she met and married J. W. Tankersley. J.W. and his family had a special place in her heart. Deanna and J.W. moved to San Antonio in 2005 to be closer to her children. They resided in the Legacy Retirement Community where they made many friends.
