NEW GLOUCESTER--Charles E. Bragdon, Sr., 63, of the Gloucester Hill Road, was dead on arrival Saturday afternoon at the Stephens Memorial Hospital in Norway after being stricken with a heart seizure.

Mr. Bragdon was born in New Gloucester July 12, 1915, the son of Wallace E. and Eleanor G. Mott Bragdon. He was educated in the schools of New Gloucester. In Kennebunk in 1937, he was married to Myra G. McGaffey. During World War II he served with the U.S. Navy and he was one of those who witnessed the flag raising in Iwo Jima. He had been a painter employed by the Pineland Training Center, Pownal, and prior to that he was employed by the Maine Forest Service. He was a life member of the Lunn-Honeywell Post AMVETS of New Gloucester.

He is survived by his widow, one daughter, two sons, two sisters, four brothers, nine grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
