CHAFIN RITES

Funeral services for Thomas Jefferson Chafin, 96, a retired minerand merchant from New Town, will be held Friday at 12 Noon at the Pentecostal Holiness Church at New Town with the Reverends Darius Carey and Lowell Sparks officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chafin cemetery at New Town under the direction of the Chambers Funeral Home of Matewan.
Born Sept. 27, 1880, at Vulcan, he was the son of the late Andrew and Vicie Mounts Chafin. His wife, Maude Varney Chafin, survives.
Also surviving are the following children: Virginia Chafin and Hester Harmon, both of New Town; Georgia Harmon of Florida; Paul Chafin, Thomas Chafin and Mary Lecco, all of Detroit, Mich.; Doris Stafford of South Williamson; Inez Lecco of Kopperston; and Sue Rawoew of California.
Additional survivors include a brother, Leonard Chafin of New Town, 34 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, Albert and Dan.
Friends may call at the funeral home, where special services will be held Thursday night.
