M.L. DeGree died Monday morning at his home on South Fourth Street, the result of tuberculosis Mr. Degree had been failing ever since last February and his death, although sudden, was not unexpected by the family and friends. Funeral Services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon, the sermon being preached by Rev. Nelson. The masons under the direction of T.J. Keller then took charge of the services at the grave. The deceased was past 70 years of age and lived in Rogers 11 years, coming here from Stewart, Minn. Most of the time was spent at his farm southwest of Rogers, but he moved to town several years ago. He leaves a wife and seven children-five daughters and two sons, three of the children are here. Mrs. C.V. Crawford of Sulphur Springs, Miss Maude Degree and a six year old boy, Ross. The other children are in the northwest and unable to come. A Brother Eli Degree, lives north of town. The deceased was a civil war veteran and a number of the G.A.R. attended the funeral. Mr. Degree was a quite, retiring man and not widely known here but his many excellent qualities made him popular with all who numbered him as a friend.[Rogers Democrat 8/25/10]
