Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015, 3:00 PM at Hinshaw Street Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Gore, Rev. Jeff Collins and Rev. Sherrill Wellborn officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:30 until 2:30 prior to the service. A graveside service will be held Monday, July 13, 2015, 10:00 AM at Mountlawn Memorial Park.
Ms. Handy was born June 6, 1928 in Wilkes County to Ira Marshall and Maude Adams Handy. She was a Childcare Provider and was a babysitter for many children through the years. Although Vice didn't have children of her own, she mothered many of her nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and the many children she provided childcare for over the years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Irene Pendry, Grace Sprinkle, Gladys Hayes, John Handy, Quincy Handy and Cassie Blevins.
Ms. Handy is survived by, one sister; Nell Handy of North Wilkesboro, one brother; Numa Handy and wife Mary of Huntsville, Texas, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and many children she provided care for over the years.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Hinshaw Street Baptist Church Building Fund, PO Box 396, North Wilkesboro, N.C. 28659 or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mt. Airy, N.C. 27030
