Mrs. Catherine Frey Carter, 68, of Edwardsville route 3, a resident Edwardsville for 22 years, died Sunday at 8:20 a.m. at Christian Welfare hospital in East St. Louis following an illness of nine months. She was born Feb. 7, 1886, in Jacob township, the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Gobelman) Frey. She was married to Dan A. Carter on March 5, 1907, in Troy. She Is survived by her husband; one son, Cleo of Edwardsville; two daughters, Mrs., Erwin (Ethel) Blumberg of Marine and Mrs., Norman (Gladys) Grotefendt of Marine; two brothers, Peter C Frey of St. Jacob and Edward Frey Troy; and four sisters, Mrs. Ida Keck of Trenton, Mrs. Linda of New Athens, Mrs. Carrie Adelhardt of Troy and Mrs., Alice Spengel of Troy. She is also survived by two sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law and seven grandchildren. Three brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Friends may call at the funeral home in Troy until 2 Wednesday when funeral services will be held at the funeral home, with the Rev. Earl E, Stodge, pastor of the Immanuel Methodist church of Edwardsville, officiating, Burial will be in Keystone cemetery in St. Jacob.
