Stanley Sorenson, 73, Owatonna

Stanley LeRoy Sorenson, 73, of Owatonna, died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2007. He was born on May 2, 1934, to Julius and Clara (Narveson) Sorenson in Clarks Grove. He was baptized and confirmed at Hayward Lutheran. He attended Hayward and Albert Lea schools. He worked for the school district, Wilson & Co., John Deere, Miles Homes, and drove truck and bus many years.


He is survived by his wife, Sharon; seven children, Mike Sorenson of Twin Lakes, Brenda Sorenson of Albert Lea, Sheryl (Joe Brigston) Sorenson of Albert Lea, Doug Sorenson of Blaine, Laurie (Jay) Jackson of Richfield, Cindy Olsen and Scott (Dalene) Sorenson of Owatonna; four step children, Mike Skalicky of Owatonna, Amy (Tommy) Johnson of Owatonna, Joseph Skalicky of Owatonna and Nick (Sarah) Skalicky of Owatonna; 14 grandchildren, Dustin (Nikki) Sorenson of Ham Lake, Derek Sorenson of Woodbury, Malissa and Heather Brigston of Albert Lea, Brandon Sorenson of Albert Lea, Sam and Mary Jackson of Richfield, Autumn Olsen, Megan, Tyler, Seth, Spencer, Jade, and Jack Sorenson of Owatonna; six step grandchildren, Forrest, Elizabeth, Jake, Tommy, Mason and Jordan; two great-grandchildren, Tyler Sorenson of Ham Lake and Colin Sorenson of Woodbury; three brothers Warren (Solveig) Sorenson of Geneva, Gordy (Marlene) Sorenson of Albert Lea and Henry (Dorothy) Sorenson of Albert Lea; sister Clarice Pence of Owatonna; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Stanley was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Joneth, Lila, and brother, Norris.

Stanley enjoyed Minnesota Twins baseball and Vikings football.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church, 1500 18th St. SE, Owatonna.

Memorials are preferred to the Mayo Clinic School of Science or Cornerstone Evangelical Free Church.
