John was the 1st child born to Rebecca A. Blalock and Richard A. Sentelle, and married Nancy Louise Haynes, John and Nannie made their living off the land, John started working for the Asheville Newspaper in 1904 and stayed with that job for 23 years, during those years nannie was busy too she gave birth to 11 children and cooked, canned and sewed for her family, in 1927 they moved to Virginia and bought a 550 acre farm that did very well until the depression hit them hard and they lost it all. They moved back to Haywood Cty, where they stayed the rest of their lives, after nannie died from heart disease in 1942 john stayed in their house until his death.
